I was doing the same as Emma but i was shocked at the adult language in it, certainly made me go 'oh my' at some points, but it is a very good book!

I really liked it, I read it on the plane on the way to Portugal, and couldn't put it down.
The book and the musical are very different though, i kind of think of them as separate things...

How odd my friend texted me last night to say she was on page 102 of MY book lol. I want to read it again! Actually i really want to read 'son of a witch' now!
And also strangely enough a friend on MySpace messaged me to say she's just finished the book and wants to know what the difference is between the musical and the book. I was going to tell her that the musical is more of a family show and not as dark but what else can i say?

I read the book in the Summer before I saw the musical, although I knew they were very different from each other because I had the soundtrack album and everything obviously.
The book is very adult and political and a lot darker.
I love both the book and the musical, and think of them as seperate entities. I'm reading Son of a Witch at the moment.

I read the book last early year and I think the musical is better, not as its a live show I think it has better connections like the tin man, Scacrow, the Lion is in the book, but also the Wizard and I just found it better, even though I did find the book good still and had some good lines and other little stories.

But there is a but, I ended up after a while forcing my self to read it as it got dull, yes I got bored and was like ahhhhh get better, its this one part when Elphie stays at this house or castle and she stays there for so long and I found that part boring, after towards the end it picked up again.
I think thats the part after the pictures of the musical if you have that copy lol.

Also the Musical has a better ending, Elphie didn't deserve to well die really.

Anyone read son of a witch yet? Brought it but not read it yet.

I like Son of a Witch so far.
And I know what you mean about her staying in Kiamo Ko for ages but I found that part interesting because that was while everything with Dorothy was starting and she was just trying to connect with Fiyero's life.
Yeah I like about the musical the connections with the Scarecrow and Tin Man, etc. The ending too is a lot happier and nicer, but the book also leaves room at the end for her not to be completely dead...

although the musical is based on the book i think of them as two differnt things after all apart from the begging were Glida is shalow, Fiyero is a prince, boc is just wired and Elhpie is Green oh and Dr D dies theres not an awfull lot the same

I'm dealing with a complicated dillema - finish it or not? I've got 40 more pages to read but I don't want it to end, I know
*SPOILERS*
she's gonna die
*END OF SPOILERS*
and I don't want to freak out and scream "That's not fair!!!!" in the middle of physics lesson where I used to read this book. So I don't even dare opening the book, knowing I'm going to
*SPOILERS*
kill Elphie
*END OF SPOILERS*
What do you guys think? Should I finish it?

You should, we all know how it ends, but yeah its unfair she has to die, but might as well finish it as your near the end.
Thats why I liked the ending for the show I didn't know they made her live so just think of that, makes me happy as most people will see the show and not read the book, and just think she lived. Which to me shes alive with Fiyero somewhere lol.

I love the novel, and Son of a Witch. The thing with the book is that there are levels for everyone, Nessarose hits home hard (for me in the book) while Elphaba's feeling on the outside looking in, everyone can deal with. Even Boq.

That's why I wrote my own version, it was my way of interperting the story. Who loved Nanny and who was on the edge of their seats with the sleep deprived Elphaba?
